Penis rings have been used for a long time to boost the strength of erections and to hold more blood in the penis. Some users have claimed that the rings actually helped them with their premature ejaculation. But is this actually possible?
Up to this day it is not 100% clear what causes premature ejaculation. A recent Dutch study proved that there is a close relationship between serotonin production and premature ejaculation. The side effects of antidepressants that increase serotonin levels while at the same time improving men’s stamina are additional evidence to this claim.
Sufferers have just claimed to have a higher sensitivity than other men, especially in the area of their glands. The reason for this sensitivity is not the protection of the foreskin since men that are cut have reported the same issue. It also has no relationship with the frequency of sex since regular intercourse does not help men to last longer.
Some women have claimed that premature ejaculators just lack control. Control over their bodies that “real” men should possess. This is obviously an insult that is not based on any fact at all. The only reason why a woman would say this is to hurt men she felt have hurt her.
A cause with which penis rings do help
It is quite clear that for none of those causes, be they scientific or not a penis ring could be of any help. But there is another theory that tries to explain premature ejaculation. This explanation which is rather new is based on the involvement of muscle tension in the ejaculation process.
During sexual intercourse muscle tension progressively builds up and the side effect of the ejaculation is to release this tension. The tension that mainly influences the ejaculation is the one located in the area of the PC muscle. The PC muscle has the shape of the figure eight and runs around the base of the penis and the behind.
The more this muscle is flexed the higher the arousal goes. When the tension is extremely high it is released by muscle contractions that go along with the ejaculation. This process is unconscious and thus almost impossible to control. What men can control however is their PC muscle.
Men that suffer from premature ejaculation often abuse the PC muscle to pump more blood into the penis. They do this because their level of arousal is not sufficiently high or they are distracted by stress. This flexing of the muscle builds tension. The more often this “helper” to harden the penis is used the less long men usually last.
This is where the penis ring comes into play. It can keep the blood in the penis even when arousal drops thus helping men to avoid flexing their PC muscle. This way less tension accumulated in the area and men are able to last significantly longer.
