After a hair transplant operation there are many care procedures you will need to follow to ensure the best possible results. A hair transplant can be quite an invasive procedure, however if you have received the latest type of surgery known as follicular transfer then the results will be far less invasive. Here in this article we look at some after care instructions after your surgery as a guide. After surgery after-care will be given by your clinic and this is just a guide to help the healing process.

The first night after your operation will be the most important, avoid touching your grafts because they can fall out of the incisions made. Try to sleep in a semi upright position, which is easier if you place two or three pillows beneath your head to elevate your head. It is advisable to sleep in this position for a further three nights after the hair transplant. If your clinic has given you any lotion to apply make sure that you follow all of the instructions carefully. Usually this has to be applied every thirty minutes once at home, most clinics advise that you keep using the spray until it’s finished.

After forty eight hours of the surgery you will be able to shampoo your hair, do check with your clinic though that this is advised. If you do shampoo your hair, make sure that the shampoo you use is a PH-balanced shampoo. Place a mixture of water and shampoo into a plastic container and start to massage the areas over your head including the grafts with your finger and thumb. To then rinse the shampoo off place some water into a receptacle and pour it gently over, after five days you will be able to place your head under a shower jet.

Don’t be alarmed if white spots appear on your scalp after washing, this is the swelling in the root of the grafts and they will probably disappear after thirty to forty minutes. The donor zone of your hair transplant must be regularly washed energetically. This will avoid crusting and will impede scarring and the removal of stitches. You will be expected to avoid physical activity for the first week and avoid blowing your nose to heavily.

Disclaimer- This article is only opinion and not medical advice, after a hair transplant seek proper medical information from your certified clinic. If you have any concerns regarding your surgery you should contact your doctor for further help.
