It is said the person you first see on St Valentine’s Day is your Valentine, the tradition of this day dates as far back as 469AD and has been celebrated ever since. The customary gift to bare on this day is a handmade and hand written card which has obviously disappeared over the last few decades but hasn’t totally vanished. Though now the celebratory day has become a bit of a consumerism hot spot there is still a very fanciful and beautiful tradition at its core, to celebrate and love the ones closest to us. So what type of gift is appropriate these days? Traditional? Modern? Minimal? Extravagant?
Well I think a great genre to go with is funny…yes funny. Why not have a laugh with it this year? To many years go by were the social and financial pressures take over and we feel if we do not go to an over prized restaurant, spend a ridiculous amount of money on dying flowers, and get a box full of saturated fat we are not a carrying and loving person…this is a terrible notion. The point is you’re adorning the person you love with what you feel they would like not just a general widespread concept of what they might like. Take that little bit of time and responsibility to go that extra mile and do something personal and fun. There are so many options to pick from there isn’t really an excuse so walk by the stereotypical, predictable, expected presents and prepare to rummage for that illusive but loving gift!
A few suggestions and ideas can be things like a silver coated heart shaped USB stick, it’s small but quaint, they will be reminded of you every time they use it and its heart shaped, you can’t get much better than that. Another cool but fun gift to think about is an illuminating massage pod; they are cheap but orgasmic which is perfectly fitting for Valentine’s Day. Everyone likes getting massages so this is a great little thing to invest in because it can easily last longer than the day itself, if you catch my drift. When it comes to a card I can’t stress enough that seriously making your own will get you far more brownie points then buying something that some other person is 100 percent going to get for their significant other as well.
You can even get raunchy wrapping paper, this were the paper looks innocent from the outside but when you rip it open it reveals an array of provocative girls or boys, depending obviously on what you are into, it’s clever and sexy and definitely sexy.
So this February the 14th go for something fun, and different to the ordinary you’d be surprised what type of difference it makes to the day…trust me!
