Trying to come up with Christmas gift ideas for men can be quite a difficult adventure. Do you go down the typical route and get him a new tie, aftershave, cufflinks, socks etc. or do you break away from the unexpected and branch out for something a bit different? Either way it’s the thought that counts, but who says you can’t think a little harder!

Men can be easy to buy for soon as you get rid of the stereotype. Yes men do think in quite a black and white way but Christmas is a chance to splash a bit of colour in their life. Getting something a bit out of the ordinary is a good place to start, maybe an accessory for the latest gadget or how about a designer glass decanter, or even a newspaper inspired chips and sauce porcelain set? If you can think of it, big chances are someone online is selling it. If out of the ordinary is a bit too flamboyant for your ‘man’ there is always the safe options but you can still add a different element to it to keep it personal and thoughtful. Don’t be afraid to have a bit of fun with it.

Another aspect to your buying thoughts can to be finally get him something that he or you have been putting off for ages. For example you can start to get him into cooking with a cook book specifically targeted for men or something meat related in the title; it will definitely grab his attention. If food is already your man’s speciality, why not think about getting him a book filled with fun cycling destinations for a mini escape to the country one weekend. If he is unorganised kinda chap why not get him a personalised leather bound journal with his initials engraved, it’s productive and logical yet still manly. Another idea you could get for your hairy other half is a male grooming kit, they sound expensive but really aren’t. Most retailers stock bundled style gifts with beard trimmers, face washes, nail paraphernalia and other little things that can take your man from a beast to prim and proper man in no time.

These are just a few options but in all us men aren’t that hard to buy for, as long as it’s a tad immature yet practical we are a doddle… So the next time he’s watching sports or spending hours on a game console get yourself on the computer and start scouring around for something unique.

A good friend of ours, we’ll call him Vince for confidentially reasons, once went up to someone in a bar and asked her “do you want to sleep with me. Are you as shocked as us? Perhaps you are, perhaps not. He actually believed this was hilarious and would be an excellent conversation starter. He was convinced he could pull a lot of hotties with this opening line.

Even more remarkable, Vince is an Adonis, a very smart, cool, successful guy. However he was a poor performer when it came to pulling the opposite sex. His repertoire was simply awful and he wondered why he couldn’t get the girls! When we confronted him on why he came up with these disgraceful one liners, he had convinced himself of a theory that girls must be tired of the standard lines many men come up with. For example “Would you like a coffee sometime this week”. So he had brainwashed himself into thinking that he needed to be creative or wacky in order to stand out from all those other less imaginative guys with the same old opening lines.

The problem being, Vince thought using vulgarities was creative! Let us emphasis the point home gentleman. Trying to be creative, eccentric, unpredictable or whatever else you label in your opening line will lead to disappointment.

To be fair to Vince, we can understand his frustration. There are so many mixed messages out there. Girls are often proclaiming how they want men to be original, spontaneous, funny and different. When Vince gave that a go he just faced a barrage of rejection. So let’s make it a little clearer for you.

Your spontaneity, humour and creativeness is of course valued. Just not right now. You have just met this girl in a bar, a coffee shop, a library or whatever. You don’t know her. You fancy her and you want to take her out. Blurting out something crazy and she’ll think you’re a prized idiot.

Our girlfriends all agree. Men should employ the same tried and tested tactics that have a history of working time and time again. With a little charm, a smile, ask her out for a drink. And that’s it. The Holy Grail.

When girls talk of originality they mean….

We have asked lots of my girlfriends what they mean by wanting original guys and this is our deduction.

a)The guy is the “unique” man ideally suited for her. They are in sync with each other. On a similar wavelength.

b)There is a mutual sexual attraction between them.

c)The conversation flows and you both have interesting experiences to share. There is a spirit between you both and boredom wont set in

d)You inspire each other and drive each other forward

e)He has his own intimate sayings and personal mannerisms that remind me of him.
Perhaps a little girly but now you know. Being creative or original is clearly an ideal geared towards relationships so let’s leave that for when you meet the one.

Do you simply freezes up when it comes to talking with a girl you have just got acquainted with or a woman whom you like? Are you racking your head on what to say next during the conversation?

If you are, then your success with women may be in jeopardy because if you can’t talk to a woman, then how in the world can you succeed with her or to even date her?

This article is not about starting conversations with women for there are thousands of articles where you can read about that. It is for guys who squirm at carrying on a conversation and is constantly racking their brains as to what to say next. That being the case, here are some ways in which you can find things to talk about with her.

An excellent way to move a conversation along is to talk about subjects relating to her own experiences and then linking it to something that you have been through. So when she is telling you something, you can then add your bit by saying, “Oh my gosh, that reminds me of the time when I etc”

You see, when you shift the conversation to relate to your own experiences, there will be many things to say because those things happened to you, didn’t they? At the same time, take this opportunity to score some brownie points by sprinkling some of your positive qualities into what you are telling her.

Since the subject is relevant to her own personal experiences, she will most likely be listening to you attentively and carrying on the conversation with you excitedly, wouldn’t she?

It is no secret that the easiest way to move between conversational subjects is to simply don’t think too much about it. The more you are trying to think what to say next or which subject to talk about, the more nervous you will be and your mind will go blank. I am sure you must have experienced that before, haven’t you?

So just chat with her naturally as if you are in a conversation with a good friend. You can also use this friendly banter to create a feeling of familiarity with her and so just talk about what you want to talk about.

Furthermore, you are also taking control of the conversation and that is the essence of leadership. I am sure you know that women find men with leadership qualities and who are in control very sexually attractive. Oh, you didn’t know that? Well, now you do, so be that attractive man!

Now what if you have said all you have to say about that particular experience that relates to her and the conversation grinds to a halt? Well, you don’t need to despair. Simply just change the subject to something else that you are familiar with and that she is interested in.

This should be easy because by now, through the course of the conversation, you would have found out some things that makes her excited or interested in. So move on to that subject by saying “anyway” and change the subject.

Remember this, don’t ever turn the conversation into a monologue or into your personal biography as that may turn her off. Worse, she may even think that you are a conceited show off.

If she is quiet and letting you do all the rambling without adding her inputs now and then, she is probably getting bored with the conversation. So you should turn over the conversation to her by asking her questions like “so, what do you think about that” or “what will you do if you were me?”

Then as she starts answer your questions, flirt, joke and tease her playfully to raise the sexual tension. Start to say things like “did it make you feel good?” or “what was it like when it happened?”
