It is understandable that men will often get very excited when preparing and in the midst of their first dating experience. Because they are being all flustered and excited, date wrecking mistakes are often made that can destroy that first impression of them and sabotaging the chance for another date. What a waste, don’t you think?

So this article will prompt you on some of the common mistakes men often make on their dates and make sure that you do not do the same. Are you ready?

Mistake number one is being too chivalrous. While it is certainly an admirable trait to be chivalrous, many men overdo it. Opening the door for her, pulling out the chair for her to sit, closing the car door for her, bringing flowers, paying for the meals and the movie tickets, blah blah blah… do you see what I mean?

The girls will know that this is unlikely to be your natural self and you will not do this to most other girls. You will come across as unnatural and trying to hard to please. Yes, some women may like it, but I bet many will think to themselves that that are not crippled and infirmed that they will need this type of over attention. Some, if not most girls will even feel awkward and insulted.

Just be cool and natural. Be who you are and nice to the girl you are dating. Just don’t overdo it and you will come across as a well mannered gentleman.

The next first date mistake is being too well rehearsed. I know that preparation is good, but if you have to memorize you conversations from a script, will it come across as genuine? Just a little reminder, girls have far higher intuition than men and will smell you out in no time. How natural can that be? If you are the nervous type, and that is probably the reason why you have a script prepared, then concentrate more on the actions and activities during the date instead of conversational aspects of it.

Some men are so nervous on dates that they become fidgety without even knowing it themselves. But I bet you my last dollar, your date will. Women like men with confidence and since you are fidgety, you are not displaying the traits of a confident man and that will be a turn off.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are guys who insist on showing off to impress women they date. They talk about themselves, about their exploits, about their careers, about their wealth about their, well, yawn. Oh, his date has just fallen asleep. So we move on to the next mistake.

Then there are the conservative types who put on his best appearance by not talking too much or doing too much because they fear doing or saying the wrong things. These are the golden boys because silence is golden isn’t it? Wrong.

There will be many awkward silence moments on dates like these with both parties not saying anything but looking at each other embarrassingly. If you are out to embarrass your date, then be the golden boy and keep your mouth shut and very soon, she will shut you out of her life.

These are just a small sampling of mistakes guys make on first dates and there are many more. So don’t ever make these deadly dating mistakes and you will have more successful dates with women.

Before you buy the engagement ring think about your budget. The traditional to spend two months salary on an engagement ring for your loved one. However you do not need to. There are so many beautiful pieces around which cost much less. So set your budget and stick to it.

Secondly find out her ring size. This could be tricky, but with some good planning you will achieve it. Once your lady has accepted and wearing the ring the last thing she will want to do is take it off her finger and have it sent back for resizing. Take it from a woman.

You may have to come up with a cunning plan to get her ring size. One way is to rope in her mother or sister. Ask them to do the detective work. Alternatively secretly take a ring which she sometimes wears on the same finger on the other hand. Finally if you are really planning ahead why not buy her a nice ring for christmas or a birthday, and get her ring size by joking that you are checking her wedding finger for future reference. This will also give a good indication of her willingness to accept the proposal. From a womans point of view I prefer the last option of course as the lady gets two pieces of jewellry.

A very important factor is what precious metal you will choose. If you girl usually wears yellow gold then stick with this. If your girlfriend wears lots of silver, white gold or platinum then stick with white gold or platinum. I say this as silver is not the usual choice for engagement rings. However if you are on a budget then this will be fine. My engagement gift was a silver necklace, as we did not have so much cash back then. However my wedding ring is platinum and was very expensive. It looks like tin as platinum loses its shine, however if you feel the weight you can easily tell its so heavy it must be platinum. More than that it is my wedding ring and I love it. I also love and still wear my silver necklace. Get the color right and you will be fine.

The main points have been covered now. Here is where it gets more tricky. You will find out how much you really know your girlfriend when you think about what type of style she will appreciate.

The film Sex and The City one featured a huge flower ring and women flocked to the shops to buy imitations. The ring was fabulous, however will your wife still be wearing a huge flower ring when its no longer the fashion in decades to come. These are serious questions. Would a simple design be fashion proof.

If your lady likes bold jewelry then personally something too simple may not impress. However a timeless piece can still be stunning throughout the fads of fashion over the years.
