At first in addition to needing a tie you may want to stand in front of a mirror.

You should start by turning up the collar of your shirt and buttoning up the top button of your shirt.

Drape the tie around your neck with the main seam of the tie facing inward so that is is laying on your chest. Another way to say this is the front of the tie should actually be facing in the same direction as it will be once the tie is finished being tied.

Up - You want to have the wide end of the tie crossing over the narrow end. Now take the wide end and pull it up through the middle of the loop and bring it to the right side of the tie.

Under - now pass it under the knot and bring it around to the left side of the tie. Now take the wide end and pass it through the middle of the loop again but this time go through the front side and than bring it back to the right. Now cross over the front of the tie.

The last step is to pass it through the back loop again but this time thread the tie between the front material and the knot and pull down.

Next you want to tighten the not so it fits comfortably around you collar. You do this by pulling on the narrow end of the tie while holding the knot you just created. Turn down your collar and do any final adjustments you want to make.

To remove you tie slide the narrow end completly out and than losen the knot. Never slide the knot over you head since this could end up damaging the fabric of the tie.
